MH Cooking Studio Terms & Conditions

By paying the “refundable breakage deposit”, the responsible person and/or company acknowledges and agrees to the following terms and conditions:

Booking, Payments & Guest Numbers

A booking is only conﬁrmed once the deposit payment has been received.
Full payment must be made before the event date in order for the Studio to be made available for use.
MH Cooking Studio reserves the right to withhold access to the venue should payment not be received before the event date.
Any outstanding balances must be settled prior to the event setup and arrival of guests.
Changes to the booking must be requested in writing and may be subject to availability and additional charges.
MH Cooking Studio reserves the right to cancel or refuse booking in the event of force majeure, unsafe behaviour, non-payment, or breach of any terms and conditions set out by MH Cooking Studio.
A refundable breakage deposit is required to secure and conﬁrm your event date booking. This deposit will be refunded after the event provided that no damages, losses, or breakages have occurred.
When paying the “refundable breakage deposit, the client agrees to all terms and conditions set out by MH Cooking Studio.
Final guest numbers must be conﬁrmed 3 days before the event.
Any increase in guest numbers after conﬁrmation may result in additional charges and need to be settled before the event.
All additional costs arising during the event, including extra rental hours, additional attendees, damages, breakages, or any supplementary services requested, must be settled in full before vacating the premises.
Proof of payment alone will not be accepted. Funds must reﬂect in the MH Cooking Studio bank account before departure from the venue. Such additional costs are separate from and will not be deducted from the refundable breakage deposit.

Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellations must be made no later than 6 weeks before the event date.
Cancellations made within 6 weeks of the event will result in the forfeiture of all payments.
Refunds will only be issued for cancellations made at least 6 weeks in advance, minus an administrative fee of R850 of the deposit.

Postponement & Rescheduling of Event

Requests to move or reschedule an event must be submitted in writing to MH Cooking Studio.
Rescheduling of event is subject to studio availability and approval by MH Cooking Studio.
Deposits already paid may be transferred to a new event date if sufficient notice is given and the new date is conﬁrmed.
MH Cooking Studio cannot guarantee availability for alternative dates.
Any price increases, additional costs, or supplier changes resulting from the new event date will be for the client’s account.
Event postponed within a short notice period may be subject to additional fees or forfeiture of deposits.
A rescheduled event may only be conﬁrmed once all outstanding amounts have been settled.

Event Duration & Overtime

The agreed event times must be adhered to.
Any request for additional rental time during the event must be communicated to and approved by the owner no later than one hour before the agreed booking end time. Should the booked time already be exceeded without prior approval, no additional time extension will be granted to the client.
Guests will be granted a 15-minute grace period to vacate the premises after the booked event time. Any time exceeding the 15-minute grace period will result in an additional venue rental charge of R2000 per hour or part thereof.

Damages & Breakages

Any damages to the venue or its property will be charged to the hirer at replacement or repair cost, which may be deducted from the “refundable breakage deposit”.
Event insurance is highly recommended to cover potential risks, including liability of damages, injuries, or unforeseen cancellations.
The venue is not responsible for any losses, claims arising from the event, breakages caused by guests, suppliers, or contractors, or any unexpected circumstances, including weather, theft, power outages, or other emergencies.
Costs for damages exceeding the breakage deposit will be invoiced separately.

Setup & Cleanup

Access times for setup and breakdown must be arranged in advance.
MH Cooking Studio reserves the right to charge additional cleaning fees if the venue is left excessively dirty.

Food & Beverage:

Dietary requirements must be communicated with the chef in advance.
No outside food or non-alcoholic beverages may be brought onto the premises unless agreed upon beforehand.

Event Drop-Off & Storage

Clients may arrange, by appointment only, to drop off beverages, food ingredients, cakes, or event-related items prior to the event.
Items may be stored in the designated fridge or allocated storage space provided by MH Cooking Studio.
MH Cooking Studio will not be held responsible for loss, damage, soilage, or shortages of items left on the property.

Health & Safety

The client is responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Guests must follow all safety instructions while using the studio facilities and equipment.
MH Cooking Studio will not be held liable for injuries resulting from negligence or misuse of equipment.
The venue is used at the client’s own risk, and MH Cooking Studio will not be held liable for any injuries or accidents occurring during the event.
The client is responsible for providing their own security or emergency personnel if deemed necessary.

Alcohol & Behaviour

Responsible alcohol consumption is required at all times.
The venue reserves the right to cease alcohol service if necessary for safety or legal reasons.
The client is responsible for maintaining good conduct among guests. Disruptive or illegal behaviour may result in event termination without a refund.
The venue reserves the right to remove individuals posing safety risk. Any form of vandalism, theft, or misconduct will result in immediate expulsion from the venue and may result in legal action.
Guests are requested to keep noise levels respectful at all times. Excessively loud music, disruptive behaviour, aggressive conduct, violence, or intoxication due to alcohol consumption will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the event without refund.

Unforeseen Circumstances

MH Cooking Studio will not be held responsible for weather conditions, or circumstances beyond our control.

Photography & Marketing

Photos or videos taken during the event may be used for marketing purposes unless the client requests otherwise in writing.

Supplier & External Services

Any additional services not provided by MH Cooking Studio, including but not limited to live music, DJs, ﬂorists, mobile bars, waitresses, bartenders, entertainers, décor companies, or external suppliers, must be discussed with and authorised by management prior to the event. All relevant business information, including website links and Facebook/Instagram details, must be submitted to management for approval beforehand.

Parking & Personal Belongings

Guests attend events at their own risk.
MH Cooking Studio is not responsible for theft, loss, or damage to personal belongings or vehicles.

Dogs on Premises

Please note that dogs may be present on the property.
Guests are kindly requested not to touch, feed, tease, or interact with the dogs under any circumstances.
MH Cooking Studio will not be held liable for any incidents resulting from guests approaching or interacting with the dogs.

Studio & Private Property Rules

Guests are kindly requested to remain within the designated studio and event areas at all times.
The private house and residential areas on the property are strictly off limits to guests.
Please note that dogs are present on the private property and may react protectively towards unfamiliar people.
For safety reasons, guests who enter restricted private areas do so at their own risk.
MH Cooking Studio will not be held liable for any incidents resulting from guests entering private property areas or interacting with dogs.

Children & Property Safety Rules

A responsible adult are responsible for supervising children around the animals at all times.
Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times while on the property.
Running inside the studio or event areas is not permitted for safety reasons.
Please note that there is a dam located on the property. The dam and surrounding private property areas are strictly off limits to children and guests unless permission has been granted by MH Cooking Studio management in writing.
No children are allowed near the dam area under any circumstances.
Guests are kindly requested to remain within the designated studio and event areas only.
MH Cooking Studio will not be held liable for any injuries, accidents, or incidents resulting from failure to follow these safety

Guest Directions & Arrival

Clients are responsible for providing clear directions and event information to their gusts prior to the event.
Guests must ensure that they arrive at the correct studio and designated event area on the property.
MH Cooking Studio will not be held responsible for guests entering restricted private property areas due to incorrect directions or lack of communication.
Clients are responsible for informing guests of the correct punctual arrival.
Events will begin and end according to the agreed booking times.
MH Cooking Studio will not extend event times due to late-arriving guest or any other persons outside services delays caused by external service providers, suppliers, entertainers, decorators, or any other persons or services not directly managed by MH Cooking Studio.
Guests may only enter and exit though the designated studio entrance in Atterbury Road.
The private property entrance and private house gate will not be opened for guests under any circumstances.
Clients are responsible for informing all guests to use only the studio side entrance and designated parking/event areas.
MH Cooking Studio reserves the right to refuse access to guests attempting to enter through private property areas.

Garden & Property Care

Guests are kindly requested to respect and care for the gardens and outdoor areas on the property.
No ﬂowers, plants, décor, or garden features may be picked, removed, damaged, or disturbed.
Children may not play in ﬂower beds, landscaped areas, or restricted garden spaces.
Any damage caused to the garden, plants, irrigation systems, or outdoor property by guests, children, suppliers, or contractors may result in additional charges responsible to the client.
MH Cooking Studio reserves the right to charge for repairs or replacements resulting from negligence or damage to the property.

Water Fountain Rules

No gravel, stones, food, ﬂowers, or any other objects may be thrown into the water fountain.
Guests and children are requested to respect and care for the water feature on the property.
No climbing, sitting, standing, or playing in or around the fountain is permitted.
Any damage or cleaning costs resulting from misuse of the fountain may be charged to the client.
Children must be supervised by an adult or responsible person at all times near water features.
Wet surfaces around the fountains may become slippery, and guests are asked to walk carefully at all times.
MH Cooking Studio will not be held liable for injuries or accidents resulting from failure to follow these safety rules.

Client Responsibility for Additional Items

Clients are responsible for providing and bringing all items not included in the quoted event price.
Clients are encouraged to conﬁrm included and excluded items prior to the event date.
